Ukraine is no longer interested in being included in the NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP), but wants to immediately join the Alliance following the example of Finland and Sweden, said the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister on European and Euro-Atlantic integration of the country Olga Stefanishina, writes "European Truth". According to the MAP has no significant significance for Kyiv after February 24.
"If Ukraine were offered the MAP before 24 February, we would be most satisfied with this decision, happy and would think that we have complied with the requirement of our Constitution, and this is the only correct decision <…> (but today Kyiv is interested in) only membership", — Stefanyshina explained.
From the point of view of the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, at the moment, the Ukrainian side has already implemented many NATO practices and is actively cooperating with the Alliance. However, in her opinion, joining the MAP program will not be able to guarantee the country's future security.
“In matters relating specifically to security guarantees, only membership can change the situation <…> (Ukraine will sooner or later become part of the Alliance) if NATO exists until the moment when there is such a window of opportunity", — emphasized Stefanishina.
