Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky reported Saturday that Ukrainian forces regained control of more than 60 settlements in the Kherson region after the withdrawal of the Russian army.

“As of tonight, the defense forces regained control in more than 60 settlements in the Kherson region, the police started to take stabilization measures,” Zelensky said in his regular late-night speech.

He added that in the liberated territory experts in bomb disposal have a lot of work to do. “Almost 2,000 explosive elements have already been removed: mines, tripwires and unexploded ordnance,” he said.

He mentioned that there are ten groups of bomb disposal experts working in the city, the police and various units of the defense forces.

Zelensky expressed his gratitude to those who “withstood the Russian attacks in the Donetsk region: it is hell there. There are extremely brutal battles there every day. But our units are defending themselves bravely, resisting the terrible pressure of the occupiers and holding our defense lines.”

He said that thanks to the strong defense there, in the Donetsk region, Ukrainian forces can conduct offensive operationsin other directions.

He also thanked the defense and intelligence forces for “the brilliant work of the tasks for the liberation of Kherson”, adding that they will do “the same in Henichesk and Melitopol. We will also go to all our cities and towns in Donbas”.
