Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that the agreement with the United States on the inadmissibility of strikes against Russian military facilities does not apply to the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine

In an interview with the Voice of America Ukrainian service, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that Ukraine's goal is the complete de-occupation of the country and return to internationally recognized borders as of 1991.

Reznikov expressed gratitude for the latest US $1 billion aid package that included HIMARS MLRS munitions, which allow Ukraine to act more decisively, and urged the US authorities to make a decision to provide longer-range ATACMS missiles, which will allow Ukraine to hit targets at a distance up to 300 km.

“It will also allow us to save more lives of our soldiers – men and women – and inflict more damage. We hope to finally get Western aircraft that will allow us to dominate the skies with their best radar, range, maneuverability and speed. And, of course, getting tanks will also give us an advantage. Today, the modern world can easily provide us with technologies that will ensure our victory and compensate for the imbalance in manpower (between Russia and Ukraine),” Reznikov said.

Answering the question of whether there is an agreement with the United States Reznikov clarified that the agreement concerns strikes on Russian territory not to strike Russian military facilities in Crimea with the help of American weapons systems.

“But if we are talking about the de-occupation of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, where our enemies are, then, accordingly, we do not have such restrictions,” he clarified.

Regarding the measures that were taken by Ukraine to monitor and ensuring control over the use of weapons systems supplied to Ukraine, the Ukrainian defense minister said that there are several levels of such interaction, including the presence of representatives of countries supplying weapons in Ukraine.

“I will emphasize again,” Reznikov said – that we are fully interested in transparency in this matter. Because if someone says that some kind of smuggling is taking place here, then these are all propaganda narratives aimed at weakening this very support, at reducing the level of trust.”

On the eve of the Independence Day of Ukraine, the head The country's defense department stressed that this day “is also the Independence Day of many European countries, so I ask you not to succumb to the” fatigue “syndrome, stay with us and we will win together.”
