Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishina said that the country expects to meet EU requirements for candidate status before the end of the year. Ukrinform reports this.
In her opinion, Ukraine will be able to implement most of the EU requirements much faster. For example, those points that relate to certain legislation and the implementation of technical tasks.
Earlier, Secretary of State at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs Clement Bon said that on June 21 the EU states reached a political consensus on providing Ukraine EU on June 23 24 June the status of a candidate for accession to the EU.
Before that, the speaker of European Parliament Roberta Metsol during her visit to Helsinki said that the granting of candidate status to the European Union for Ukraine is a "symbol of hope".
Also, Head of the EU Foreign Service Josep Borrell informed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba about the Candidate to join summit on June 23–24.
