Russia should be expelled from the General Assembly and the UN Security Council, as it violates its obligation to maintain peace.

This is stated in the address of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the participants of the meeting of the UN Security Council.

According to him, Russian troops act like terrorists.

“And according to the UN charter, it is an obligation to maintain peace in the international arena. Member countries that violate these principles may be excluded from the General Assembly and the UN Security Council. Although Russia violates these principles, it has not yet been held accountable,” Zelensky said.

He stressed that Russia remains in the UN and has a permanent seat in the Security Council only because for the shortsightedness of politicians at the end of the Cold War.

"Russia has no right to participate in votes that relate to Ukraine. I urge you to deprive Russia of the right to vote in the General Assembly. This is unfair, Russia has no right to remain in the Security Council. If we express the political will, then the UN Charter will work”, – added the President.

BAGNET recalls that earlier Zelensky called on the UN Security Council to recognize  a Russian missile attack on a shopping center in Kremenchuk was a terrorist act.

Ukraine systematically insists on Russia's exclusion from the UN Security Council, since it has been a party to the conflict in the war since 2014 and, as a permanent member, has blocked all international peacekeeping initiatives .
