Ukraine celebrates Constitution Day

June 28 –&nbsp ;Constitution Day of Ukraine. An outstanding event happened exactly on June 28, 1996. And since then it's – Public Holiday. Constitution – this is the basic law, because it occupies the supreme position above all other laws.

The main law of the country was not adopted immediately. 5 years after the declaration of independence, Ukraine lived without a Constitution – this is the longest period among the post-Soviet countries. More than 300 people's deputies worked continuously for almost a day to form the main provisions of the Constitution.

Since then, every year on June 28, a holiday is celebrated – Constitution Day.

Interesting fact: “father” The modern Constitution of Ukraine is often considered to be Mikhail Sirota. It was he who, on the decisive night, when the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Constitutional Draft, read all the articles from the rostrum before the start of voting.

BAGNETnotes that Article 73 Labor Code established holidays and non-working days in Ukraine, in particular, June 28 – Constitution Day of Ukraine.

Before the start of a full-scale war, the government determined that June 27-28 would be non-working days. Thus, Ukrainians could expect a long weekend on June 25-28 (Saturday-Tuesday, with the transfer of one working day to July 2).

However, article 6 of the Law of Ukraine “On the organization of labor relations under martial law” ; other rules have been established for the period of martial law, namely, Article 73 of the Labor Code regarding the definition of holidays and non-working days has been suspended.

Because June 27 and 28 will be regular working days on which work is paid in the usual manner (during martial law).

The National Bank of Ukraine also canceled the transfer of the banking system. Therefore, June 27 and 28, 2022 will be working days of the banking system. Saturday, July 2, 2022 is a day off.
