As of today, Ukraine is the main recipient of military aid from the United States of America. According to this indicator, it is ahead of the leaders of previous years – Israel and Egypt.

The Washington Post writes about it. The publication notes that even without the proposed $ 20 billion military aid package being considered by the Senate, the United States is already the largest donor of military assistance to Ukraine.
According to the publication's calculations, the allocation of military aid for Ukraine is as follows:
– On February 25, the day after the Russian invasion, US President Joe Biden authorized a $350 million military aid package;
– On March 12, another 200 million were agreed million dollars;
– March 16, another $800 million agreed;
– April 1, $300 million;
– April 5, $100 million;
< p>– April 13 – $800 million;
– On April 21, another $800 million was allocated.
Thus, since the beginning of the war, the United States has already allocated $3.8 billion to Ukraine.

«The United States spends billions of dollars every year to fund the militaries of partner countries, including Israel and Jordan. But in less than three months, commitments to Ukraine exceeded these figures. If the Senate passes a new aid package, these commitments will eclipse annual US military aid to its closest partners.
This is a $20 billion package that is part of a bill to help amounting to almost $40 billion and represents a long-term commitment to US participation in the war. On Monday, the Senate decided to put the bill forward for a final vote, which is expected on Wednesday, May 18.
U.S. experts believe the increase in military spending, as well as the recent move to send more modern equipment, indicate an acknowledgment that the war in Ukraine could drag on.
«We used to provide aid packages every two weeks, to prevent the defeat of Ukraine. But then came the realization that this could go on for quite some time. … Since the military needs a continuous supply of ammunition and equipment to compensate for losses, the United States and other countries need to continue the flow of supplies», said Mark Kanchian, senior adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, in a comment to WP.
Analysts consider Western military assistance vital to Ukraine's success against a larger adversary.
«If the United States and other countries had not sent military assistance from the outset, Ukraine would have been quickly defeated and the Ukrainian government would have already would be a Russian puppet», says Kanchian.
