The southern command of the Ukrainian armed forces announced on Monday that it was launching a counteroffensive against Russian troops in the south of the country.
The representative of the command, Natalya Gumenyuk, during the briefing, confirmed the fact of the offensive and said that it extends to the Kherson region.
Ukraine regularly declares its intention to return the southern territories and, in particular, Kherson, the only regional capital that Russia has been able to capture since the invasion of Ukraine began.
Gumeniuk said at a briefing that the recent strikes against Russia's southern logistics routes have “undoubtedly weakened the enemy.” More than ten Russian munitions depots have been hit in recent weeks.
However, she declined to provide more details about the counteroffensive.
