The UK government said on Wednesday, September 18, that it had summoned the Russian ambassador following what it described as an “unprecedented and unfounded public campaign of aggression” by Russia, including allegations against British Foreign Office staff, Reuters reports.
Last week, the FSB announced that it had revoked the accreditation of six British diplomats in Moscow, accusing them of espionage and sabotage. Britain called the allegations “malicious and completely baseless.”

The British Foreign Office said that this was the latest step in a “deliberate campaign… to undermine and threaten the security and democracy of the UK and deter our support for Ukraine through disinformation, acts of sabotage in Europe and direct harassment and restrictions against our diplomatic missions in Russia.”
