An American swimmer almost drowned at the FINA World Championships in Budapest.

Swimmer Anita Alvarez lost consciousness at the end of his speech. She was already sinking to the bottom of the pool when the girl's coach came to the rescue.

According to the Marca newspaper, coach Andrea Fuentes jumped into the pool and lifted Alvarez, helping her swim to the edge of the pool.

“I was a little scared because she wasn't breathing, but now she's fine. She needs to rest,” said the swimmer's coach. >
