Two security managers at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) have been placed on administrative leave after they refused to provide access to the Agency's systems to representatives of the Department of Government Efficiency, headed by billionaire Elon Musk.
According to Ukrinform, CNN reported this with reference to sources.
It is noted that this concerns the Director of the USAID Security Department, John Voorhees, and his deputy.
Employees from Musk's Department physically attempted to gain access to the USAID headquarters in Washington, D.C., and were stopped.
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employees demanded to be let in and threatened to call the U.S. Marshals Service to gain access inside, according to two sources.
The sources added that the DOGE representatives wanted access to security systems and personal files. They also wanted access to classified information.
According to AP, Department employees eventually gained access to the Agency's confidential information, including intelligence-based reports, on Saturday.
As reported by Ukrinform, the new US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant provided full access to the federal payment system to several representatives of the Department of Government Efficiency, headed by billionaire Elon Musk.
