The Russians reported that they found information about the work on the Web, after which they went to Turkey. They were promised to be paid 100,000 rubles a month, in addition to pay for accommodation and meals on the cruise ship, which was supposed to transport tourists. The Russians had nothing to do with controlling the ship, they performed exclusively technical work. One day, boats with people who looked like migrants approached the ship, which at that time was in neutral waters. Several dozen people boarded, while the crew members hurried to leave the ship, transferring to the arrived floating craft. Russian sailors decided to rescue illegal immigrants who could have died at sea without their help, but were forced to send an SOS signal.

Human rights defenders from the International Committee for the Protection of Human Rights have already joined the case. According to representatives of the organization, the sailors did not receive qualified assistance, and the court did not take into account the arguments of the accused. The meeting was attended by an employee of the Russian Consulate The court ignored all his remarks about the violation of international norms.
