Police in Longueuil on the South Shore of Montreal are investigating two deaths that could be linked to Ontarian Kenneth Law. The latter already faces 14 counts of premeditated murder in Ontario for assisting suicide.

The 58-year-old accused operated, according to the police, multiple websites selling sodium nitrite to suicidal people throughout the the world.

This substance is used as a food preservative and is legal, but can be lethal in high doses.

François Boucher, spokesperson for the Longueuil police, tells CBC by email that the police force has three files linked to Kenneth Law. Of these three cases, two people died, he said.

Mr. Boucher did not specify the age of the victims or the date of their death.

Kenneth Law's attorney says his client will plead not guilty to all 14 counts of first-degree murder filed against him in Ontario.

In addition to these charges, he is the subject of investigations in other provinces and in several countries around the world, including the United Kingdom.

Last September, Montreal police announced the opening of an investigation into Kenneth Law, but did not not specified if there were any victims.
