Two dead in fire at a residence in Rawdon

The Sûreté du Québec has opened an investigation to determine the circumstances and cause of the fire.

Two people were killed during the night from Thursday to Friday in the fire of a residence in Rawdon, in Lanaudière.

According to information obtained from the Sûreté du Québec, firefighters were called to Rectory Garden Street following a 911 call, around 1:20 a.m., from a person reporting that their house was on fire.

When they arrived on the scene, the firefighters noticed that the fire was widespread throughout the house. Firefighters then discovered the bodies of two people.

Forensic assessments will have to be carried out to confirm the identity of the victims.

The causes of the fire are currently unknown. An investigation was opened by the Major Crimes Investigation Department of the Sûreté du Québec.
