Turkey plans to launch fifth-generation (5G) mobile networks in 2026. This was announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his video address to the nation after a cabinet meeting.

According to Erdogan, the tender for the creation of a national 5G network will be held in 2025, and the first signal of the new network is expected in 2026. Earlier, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that 5G network trials were underway in Turkey. According to him, 30 organizations, including Istanbul International Airport, have received permission to use the new technology.
Currently, there are about 87 million mobile phone users in Turkey, of which almost 81 million use 4.5G networks.
