Russian President Vladimir Putin will soon have an even larger NATO presence near Russian borders.
This is reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the statement of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg after the signing of a memorandum between Turkey, Sweden and Finland, which opens the way for the Scandinavian countries to join the alliance.
“What's going on now – this is the fastest process of joining NATO… And this is a clear message to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the doors of NATO are open”,– he noted.
According to him, in December last year, Putin, hiding behind guarantees security, demanded an end to the expansion of the alliance.
“He wanted less NATO, but now Putin will get more NATO near his borders”, – added Stoltenberg.
