US President Joe Biden's campaign invited his future rival to election, Republican Donald Trump will have two rounds of debates in June and September, bypassing the bipartisan commission that has been organizing them since the 1980s.
As Politico writes, Biden campaign chair Jen O'Mallie Dillon wrote in a letter to The Commission on Presidential Debates explained that it considers the current format of the debates to be outdated, and the dates of their holding – belated.
She also recalled the experience of the 2020 debate, when the moderator did not stop Trump’s shouts, which interrupted Biden.
O'Mallie Dillon proposed holding the first debate in June &ndash ; "after Donald Trump's criminal trial in New York is likely concluded and after President Biden returns from meeting with world leaders at the G7 summit." She proposed holding the second in September.
In a response on social networks, Trump said that he was “ready and willing to debate with Crooked Joe.” (Crooked Joe) within the two proposed deadlines – in June and September.”
It is still unknown where exactly these debates will take place and on what specific dates, as well as whether the parties will involve leading TV channels for moderation – as it was at the debate organized by the Bipartisan Commission.
