There is one day left before the expiration of the period during which tour operators must notify Russians whose tours have been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic of the possibility of going on a similar trip or getting money back by December 31, 2021. Those travel agencies that do not fulfill this requirement by September 21 must return the money to their customers by December 31, 2020, that is, a year earlier, writes Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
The specifics of the execution, termination and amendment of the terms of contracts for the sale of a tourist product in 2020 and 2021 were fixed by a government decree.
The tourist can choose whether to get the money back or go on another trip of equal value. Travelers will select an equivalent tour together with the tour operator.
According to experts, the vast majority of tour operators have already agreed with tourists on the terms of the service, without waiting for the deadline for this to expire. According to the Association of Tour Operators of Russia, about 1.5 million tourists could not use the purchased tours.
