During the exchange of prisoners on May 31, it was also possible to free 24-year-old Marjana Chechelyuk. The girl was in captivity for more than two years.

Released from Russian captivity, 24-year-old investigator from Mariupol Maryana Chechelyuk read a poem dedicated to her mother. The relevant video was published by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

Maryana Chechelyuk wrote this poem while in captivity. In it, Maryana described all the horror of being in captivity and waiting to meet her relatives.

Mommy, I'm home… Thank you, mom, for waiting for me, for not leaving me – the first thing , which Maryana said when she called her mother after being released from captivity.

After the start of the full-scale invasion, the girl and her younger sister hid during the shelling of the Russian military in the walls of Azovstal. The sisters left the plant through the humanitarian corridor on May 1, but Maryana was detained at the screening. The occupiers, who learned about Maryana's profession, took her to the Donetsk SIZO.

Across the wall from her cell was a torture chamber where all prisoners were tortured around the clock. During the time spent in Russian captivity, Maryana's health deteriorated significantly, the National Police said.
