The Chinese army's maneuvers cover key areas around the Taiwan Strait, as well as the northern, southern and eastern regions of Taiwan and the nearby islands of Kinmen, Matsu, Wuqiu and Dongyin.

Note that Beijing announced the start of the Joint Sword 2024A exercises only in three days after the inauguration of Taiwan's president, calling him a “separatist” and “a troublemaker.”
