Tomasz Fornal can boast a huge distinction.

Tomasz Fornal awarded. The volleyball player managed to beat even the Olympic champion

As reported by the “Interia” portal, in the past year Polish volleyball players managed to win a silver medal at the Olympic Games. Although many fans hoped that after their excellent performances the volleyball players would return to Poland with gold, the silver was also appreciated. Tomasz Fornal can rejoice not only with an Olympic medal, but also with an unexpected distinction. Find out the details!

Tomasz Fornal with an exceptional distinction

On December 30, 2024, the Volleyball World portal announced that Tomasz Fornal was the second best volleyball player in the world in the past year.

“A unique player! This incredible receiver, part of the FIVB Nations League dream team, helped Poland end its 48-year Olympic drought with a silver medal, which it won in Paris in 2024” – the Interia portal quotes the justification for Fornal's choice.

In the portal's assessment, Fornal turned out to be better than Earvin N'Gapeth, who was hailed as the best volleyball player of the Olympic Games in Paris. Let us recall that no Polish volleyball player made it to the top six of the games. Wilfredo Leon came in 9th.

Tomasz Fornal a sure thing in the squad

As the “Interia” portal points out, Tomasz Fornal, although initially he was only a reserve player who came on at tactical moments, eventually became one of the pillars of the Polish volleyball players.

His presence in the starting line-up caused Aleksander Śliwka to drop out. “Interia” notes that Fornal's presence has pushed players such as Kamil Semeniuk and Bartosz Bednorz to the sidelines. However, it cannot be denied that Fornal fully deserved his place in the first team and the aforementioned distinction with his play.
