According to agent Jean-Luc Tremblay, of the Richelieu–Saint-Laurent intermunicipal police agency, two of the suspects were transported to hospital to check their state of health. The police had to use an electric gun to subdue one of them.

The three suspects are from Montreal. The police are trying to find out what they were doing in this residential area in the middle of the night while in possession of weapons. The suspects are being questioned by investigators and could face multiple charges in the coming hours.

Route 116 was closed in both directions between Duvernay and Lechasseur streets to allow investigators and reconstruction specialists from the Sûreté du Québec to do their work.

The road could remain closed for several more hours, according to police.
