Three Ukrainians lost more than 250 thousand hryvnias due to fraudulent schemes

In the Kherson region, three citizens became victims of fraudsters, losing a total of over 250 thousand hryvnias due to various fraud schemes.

The cases of fraud were reported to the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kherson region.

A 75-year-old resident of the regional center became the victim of a bank fraudster. The man was allegedly called by a bank manager and told that unknown people were trying to withdraw money from his bank account. To save his savings, the man needed to provide the authorization code that he received in a message. The Kherson resident followed all the instructions, after which the fraudsters withdrew 206,289 hryvnias from his card.

Two more residents of the region became victims of the fraudulent scheme «friend asks for a loan». They received messages on social networks from relatives asking them to urgently borrow money. Without checking the information, the applicants transferred 15,000 and 30,000 hryvnias to the accounts sent to them. After that, they called their relatives to find out whether they had received the money. It turned out that their accounts had been «hacked» scammers who sent similar messages to all subscribers.

The police once again remind you: if you receive a call claiming to be from a bank and reporting problems with your account and third-party interference in your personal account, immediately hang up and contact the bank yourself at the number indicated on the back of your payment card. Do not disclose your bank card details to anyone: PIN code, CVV code, card expiration date, passwords from SMS messages.
