Three people died in an explosion at an Italian hydroelectric power station

An explosion at a hydroelectric power station on Tuesday in the mountains of Italy south of Bologna, three people were killed, three were injured and six are considered missing.

This was reported by the Italian publication LaPresse, reports “European Pravda”.

The explosion occurred in hydroelectric power station on the Souviana dam, about 70 kilometers southwest of Bologna.

The mayor of the neighboring town of Camugnano, Marco Masinara, said that the explosion occurred at the ninth level underground during work on the turbines.

He noted that difficulties arose with the victims, because it was difficult for rescuers to get inside below the water level. The room there was flooded.

Police and firefighters responded to the explosion and arrived on the scene. "To provide assistance, you need visibility and low temperatures", – said the commander of the Bologna fire brigade, Calogero Turturici.

The cause of the explosion has not yet been reported.
