The completion of the entire batch is scheduled for the end of 2025.

“The acquisition of the aircraft and a package of goods and services will increase Romania's security by ensuring the protection of national airspace and the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance,” the Romanian Defense Ministry emphasized.

The governments of Romania and Norway signed an agreement in 2023 for the purchase of 32 F-16 aircraft, with initial logistical support and an additional package of goods and services from the United States.

At the same time, Romania decided to purchase 32 F-35 fighter jets from the American manufacturer Lockheed Martin.
