Taiwan is adjusting to meet a powerful typhoon called Haikui. Nearly 3,000 people have already been evacuated and domestic flights have been canceled for safety reasons. This is reported by Reuters.

Typhoon Haikui is expected to make landfall in the mountainous southeast of Taiwan on Sunday, September 3. The government said that 2,868 people had already been evacuated from the settlements. Counties and cities in the east and south have declared the day off.

The authorities have mobilized the military and equipment to help deal with the consequences of future flooding that may be caused by the storm. Taiwan's two main domestic airlines, UNI Air and Mandarin Airlines, have canceled all flights. Also, all ferry services to the sea islands were canceled.
