Each of us has probably tried various self-help methods: keeping a journal, drinking more water, practicing yoga, breathing exercises, doing a dopamine detox, and many other methods.
On the one hand, we know dozens of ways to improve our lives. On the other hand – often there is not enough energy and time for even a few of them. This is what the Psychological Support platform says.
This can lead to feelings of helplessness and self-blame. We begin to reproach ourselves for the fact that it is our inaction that is the cause of life's troubles. We constantly think that if we did more, better, better, we would already have the desired result.
How to avoid the trap of self-development?
Most importantly – it's finding a balance between self-care and other aspects of life. Here are some simple tips:
- Set priorities. Determine what is most important to you at this moment and focus on that.
- Be consistent and moderate. Don'ts all at once. Sometimes one practice is enough if it gives good results.
- Allow yourself to rest. Take regular time for guilt-free rest and relaxation.
- Be kind to yourself. Don't criticize yourself too harshly for failures. We all learn from mistakes.
- Focus on the process, not the outcome. Enjoy the journey, not just the end goal.
Remember that there are other ways of self-discovery and self-realization, for example, hobbies, social activity. And don't be afraid to take a break and give yourself time to recover, because this is also part of your growth path.
