Thieves destroy the storefront of a credit union and flee with money

Burglars destroyed the front of a credit union in Burstall, Saskatchewan, before fleeing with some of the money, say the Gendarmerie Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

Leader RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter into a business at approximately 4:16 a.m. .

The police explain that the building housing the cash register was hit several times by a front-loading vehicle, thus destroying the reception, the entrance hall and the ATM.

A sum of money that was inside the ATM was also stolen.

According to an investigation by the RCMP, individuals had stolen the front-loading vehicle some time previously.

They used it to damage the ATM to the point where they could open it to steal money, says a holder word of the RCMP from Leader.

Upon arrival, police found the dismantled ATM and the front-loading vehicle at the scene.

According to an investigation by the RCMP, individuals had stolen the front-loading vehicle some time previously.

A few hours after the theft, the police found parts of the ATM as well as a van about fifteen kilometers from Burstall. The latter would have been used to take away the ATM.

At this time, the money has still not been found.

Cypress Credit Union's director of marketing and depository says security camera footage has been turned over to authorities.

Shelly Kay adds that her team is waiting for the results of the test. is investigating and has submitted insurance claims.

Cypress Credit Union wrote on its Facebook page that its Burstall branch would remain closed until new order.
