The newly announced iPad Pros are the thinnest devices Apple has ever produced. And one of them passed the bend test.

The 11-inch model is 5.3 millimeters thick and the 13-inch model is an almost unreal thickness of 5.1 millimeters. So, naturally, from the moment of the announcement, we were interested in the question – how will one of them withstand the bending test? Lucky for us, Zack from the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel has the answer.

Intriguingly, it's not just a matter of whether or not the 13-inch iPad Pro has a trick up its sleeve. Take a look at the video below, it will explain everything.

If for some reason you were unable to watch it, here are the details. Apple built a special part inside to help with stiffness, and it works surprisingly well. When you try to bend the iPad in “landscape mode” so to speak. As long as it's bent, nothing breaks.

However, if you bend it in “portrait mode”, unfortunately there's nothing this special plate can do, so the space inside the USB-C port becomes the weakest link, and the iPad screen really cracks near it.

All that said, for a device that's 5.1 millimeters thick, that kind of durability is nothing short of outstanding. As Zack suggests, in the next generation, Apple may add a new plate inside, parallel to the bottom where the USB port is located, to hopefully solve the problem the current model is facing.

Of course you don't you'll be carrying it in your back pocket, so the bend test of such a huge tablet feels more like entertainment than anything else.
