The Chilean government acknowledged the existence of a complaint for drug plantationsinside a park protected by the State.

The complaint was recognized by the Minister of Agriculture, Esteban Valenzuela. This indicates that there would be drug plantations inside the “La Campana” National Park, located in the Valparaíso region. According to Radio Bio Bio, the Secretary of State added that there are suspicions of people from the Mapuche cause who are occupying land in the Nahuelbuta Park, in southern Chile. These would be related to the narco.

“We knew of a very specific complaint that had to do with La Campana National Park, which is located there in Valparaíso, on the border with the Metropolitan region, in which there was a specific complaint of marijuana ”, said the Secretary of State, to add later that “there is suspicion that some actors in the Mapuche conflict, who are linked to the narco. And that they can be in these problems in the Nahuelbuta mountain range.”

The situation arose after the National President of Park Rangers, César Bastías, denounced that drug trafficking gangs had taken over areas of national parks to commit crimes. The minister affirmed that the situation is not widespread as has been reported, and he hopes that if there is further information, this information should be delivered to the authorities.

Complaint

At the beginning of the week, Bastías denounced that drug trafficking gangs have taken over the national parks, and that events such as those that occurred in the Nahuelbuta Park are not isolated.

In this place an arson attack in which armed criminals threatened park rangers and burned houses. At this site, a canvas from the radical Mapuche group, Weichán Auka Mapu, was discovered. “The park rangers had noticed the presence of unknown people with weapons, as if they were monitoring the movements of this area. No precautionary measure was taken, in this case in support of the Carabineros”.

Bastías took the opportunity to denounce the marijuana plantations of “terrorist groups and drug traffickers” who would be using the offices of these parks for their crimes. “There are units that have been taken over by drug gangs. The parks are occupied for marijuana plantations and when they are in border areas for vehicle and drug trafficking.”
