On Monday, August 7, at approximately 2:40 p.m., an explosion occurred in Deringe port. The sound resounded throughout the city, and clouds of smoke could be seen around the port.

According to information published by Turkish media, the explosion occurred in one of the grain silos during the process of unloading wheat from ships.

A significant number of firefighters and medical aid teams were sent to the scene. Derinje Mayor Zeki Akgül made an announcement regarding the explosion:

"When the explosion happened around 2:40 p.m., we went to the scene. We discovered an explosion in the TMO silos. Emergency service teams are working now. The condition of the victims is not serious, they have minor injuries, he noted. He noted that the area with the grain elevators is located not far from the port, but they are not related.

The exact cause of the explosion is still unknown, but there is speculation that it may have been caused by a release of compressed gas in a grain storage.
