There are no analogues in the world: what is unique about the Ukrainian drone

This drone has a number of advantages compared to unmanned kamikaze aircraft of the “Shakhed” type.

Ukrainian rocket-drone “Palyanytsia” — it's a cruise missile. There are no analogues of such a weapon in the world.

This was written by Yuriy Kasyanov, an officer of the Armed Forces and an expert in the field of anti-aircraft fire, on his Facebook page.

According to him, the prototype of the “Palyanytsia” was invented by the Germans first. , creating the so-called “projectile plane” Vau-1, which had a jet engine, an autopilot, launched from a catapult, flew at a range of 280 km (later it was increased to 500 km) and carried a warhead weighing from 500 kg to 1 ton .

“The German “burner” Fau-1 (Fi-103, “Fiseler-103″) had a jet engine, autopilot, launched from a catapult, flew at a range of 280 km (later it was increased to 500 km) and carried a warhead weighing from 500 kg to 1 ton,” — he wrote.

What are the advantages of the cruise missile over the Shaheds

The expert named the following advantages of the cruise missile:

  • high speed: the missile can reach the target faster, and the enemy may not have time to take any countermeasures or removal from the impact,
  • potentially it can carry more a powerful combat unit,
  • it is more difficult to shoot down (“Shakhed” hunters with machine guns are ineffective here).

At the same time, this missile is easily hit by anti-aircraft missiles with a thermal guidance head, “because it has a more pronounced thermal trace.” Disadvantages include the complexity of the design and higher cost. According to his calculations, one such missile costs up to 160 thousand dollars.
