The world's second-largest offshore wind turbine has been deployed in Denmark. It will generate electricity with a relative reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of 99.93%
According to preliminary estimates, it will generate up to 21 megawatts of electricity. This is reported by 24 Channel with a link to Interesting Engineering.
What are the capabilities of the new turbine
The HIPPOW project will install, operate and test the world's most powerful prototype wind turbine. After testing new technological developments, the project will begin production of the next model of the Siemens Gamesa wind turbine.
The prototype of the new wind turbine will be installed at the Osterlid test site and will produce clean electricity with an almost complete reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. It will be the first of its kind due to its size and rated power, as well as the revolutionary innovations implemented in both the product and the installation process.
The new Siemens Gamesa wind turbine will have 40% more power than the company's current most powerful model, which has a capacity of 14 megawatts.
The innovations introduced will contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions through the production of renewable energy. The prototype of the new wind turbine will power about 7,000 households.
