The Chinese company Sany Renewable Energy installed and put into operation a prototype wind turbine with a capacity of 15 megawatts. The new installation, named SI-270150, is located in Tongyu City, Jilin Province.

The turbine surpassed the previous record holder — the largest land-based wind turbine on the planet, the 12-megawatt Goldwind design, launched in 2023 with a rotor diameter of 240 meters.
According to data Sany Renewable Energy, one such turbine is capable of producing enough electricity to supply 160,000 households during the year. The device is designed to work for 25-30 years.
