American airline for dogs BARK Air took its first flight with four-legged passengers and their owners on board. Tickets for BARK Air flights sell out very quickly.

BARK Air was started by the pet company Bark in April 2024. All 10 tickets were sold for the first flight from New York to Los Angeles. USA Today and IFLScience write about it.

To understand the feelings of pets on a plane, BARK CEO Matt Meeker conducted an experiment: he carried out A 4-hour flight from Florida to New York in a cage in the luggage compartment.

According to company representatives, their main goal is to minimize suffering strong> pets during the flight. They call their services “the canine equivalent of first class”.

The cabin of the plane was specially prepared for pets. The company used special pheromones, music and colors to make four-legged passengers and their owners feel comfortable.

According to the rules, dogs must be on a leash only during taxiing, takeoff and landing. During other times, they can move freely around the cabin, sit and lie on the seats or on the floor. In addition, pets are provided with food and water, as well as canine spa treatments.

Although quite high cost – 6 thousand dollars for domestic and 8 thousand dollars for international – tickets for available BARK Air flights sell out quickly. Soon, the company plans to add new destinations for flights.
