The video shows a fighter jet shooting down a missile launched from a warship targeting a Boeing KC-46 refueling aircraft. The Aviationist publication reports that the development of the laser complex was carried out as part of the SHiELD program, created to protect aircraft from air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles. According to the aviation portal FlightGlobal, the US Air Force fighters should be equipped with laser weapons in five years.
Earlier, the Swedish fighter tried to “escort” the Russian Tu-160, but was put to flight.
