In particular, Navalny admitted that a new version of Novichok was used against him, which was not publicly reported. The substance could be applied to an object that was used exclusively by a politician. He himself does not exclude that the poison could have been contained on a bottle of water, from which he drank while he was in a hotel room. According to journalists, in this way the oppositionist confirmed that he was poisoned through personal belongings. However, only a limited number of people had access to those.
There was a version that the blogger's assistant Maria Pevchikh could act as the poisoner, since she often accompanied Navalny on trips and even had the opportunity to stay in the same issue with him, writes Nation News. It was at her suggestion that a search was carried out in the hotel room where Navalny was staying, and the assistant also handed over a bottle with Novichok to specialists in Germany.
