U.S. First Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman said that Russia has more than one way out of the current situation around Ukraine, but Russian President Vladimir Putin does not want to use it. She announced this at a briefing, writes Politico.

"There are many "road exits" that he can use here. Until he decides to take any of the those road exits , — she said.

According to her, Putin insisted on returning NATO to the 1997 sample, but this cannot be, since countries make their own decisions and determine their political future, other states do not solve these issues for them.

Earlier, BAGNET reported that Sherman said that settling the situation in Ukraine — matter of the distant future. She said this while speaking at an online forum organized by the Washington Atlantic Council. According to the United States will work with Ukraine and other allies to help it “defend itself and determine its own future.”

She also noted that the United States will not make any decisions for Kyiv.
