The United States considers the significant assistance that China is providing to Russia in rebuilding its defense industrial base as “deeply problematic” issue, Vedant Patel said at a briefing on Thursday, reports “Voice of America.”

“We will closely monitor this and, if necessary, take appropriate action ourselves and through other multilateral forums.” em>, – Patel said in response to a journalist’s question about how US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s recent successful visit to China compares with Beijing’s latest statements about a “new era of partnership” with Russia. – We continue to be clear, and the Secretary of State has spoken with his colleagues about this – that the PRC cannot have both.”.

Patel stressed that the United States would be ready to “take additional action”, if necessary, in relation to China and any of its organizations for their further support for Russia and its aggression in Ukraine.

At the same time, the department representative noted that relations between the United States and China are “multifaceted.” and include increased cooperation in the fight against fentanyl, additional military-to-military contacts, and cooperation in other areas, which allows the two countries to “continue to manage this relationship responsibly and competition, which the world expects from leading powers.”

< p>Regarding the war in Ukraine, Patel noted that the situation at the front is “incredibly difficult,” but expressed hope that the allocated US assistance will change the situation.

"We know that now is difficult time, but we are confident that military assistance will also bring real benefits on the battlefield,”– said a State Department spokesman.

Patel also recalled that the United States announced $2 billion in additional assistance not only for the program to develop defense production in Ukraine, but also to “further strengthen Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against Russia and its ongoing attack.”
