The US Navy intercepted a ship with thousands of Kalashnikovs on board in the Gulf of Oman
The US Navy announced the interception in the Gulf of Oman of a fishing vessel that was transporting more than 2,000 Kalashnikov assault rifles from Iran to Yemen. This is stated on the official website of the U.S. Naval Central Command.
The ship was reportedly intercepted on January 6, the U.S. Navy found out that it was smuggling 2116 Kalashnikov assault rifles using international waters on the sea route from Iran to Yemen. The The media reported that the US Navy intercepted a fishing vessel in the Gulf of Oman, on board of which over 50 tons of ammunition and rocket fuel were found. The ship also followed from Iran to Yemen. The cargo was noticed during the inspection.
