The US is planning to build a $300 million bunker for the world's richest people

An American company has developed a $300 million bunker project designed to protect 625 of the world's richest people from potential disasters and political instability.

Newsweek and Daily Mail report on this.

The bunker, which will be called Aerie, is planned to be built in Virginia, near Washington. It is assumed that it will be able to withstand the electromagnetic pulses of a nuclear explosion and at the same time will not be inferior in comfort to luxury hotels.

In particular, the shelter will be equipped with restaurants, a swimming pool, a bowling alley and a climbing wall. There should also be medical complexes with artificial intelligence systems.

Strategically Armored & Fortified Environments (SAFE), which is working on the bomb shelter project, says that four levels of membership in Aerie will be offered. Each will feature different levels of exclusivity and privileges. The cheapest pass is planned to be available to “moderately successful business executives,” while the highest level will be available by invitation only. The Daily Mail notes that the creation of Aerie was inspired by a tragic incident that happened to one of SAFE's clients. Despite spending millions on security, he was killed in a shooting at a public event.

Preview Aerie is set to open in 2026, though construction will take years to complete, Newsweek notes.

In addition, SAFE aims to create a network of luxury residential bunkers in 50 cities in the United States and 1,000 shelters around the world.
