The US is negotiating with Asian countries to host small nuclear reactors

The US is in talks with several Southeast Asian countries to deploy small modular nuclear reactors as global interest in the low-carbon energy source grows. Bloomberg writes about it.

American officials discussed the matter with their counterparts from the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

Southeast Asia, home to more than half a billion people, is looking at nuclear power as a way to meet rapidly growing energy needs and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. The Philippines plans to build its first nuclear power plant by 2032, while Vietnam and Indonesia are also considering the technology.
