The future Apple Watch SE 3 will get a plastic frame

Released Apple Watch SE (2022) with plastic/sapphire back and aluminum frame. The next generation Apple Watch SE is rumored to have a plastic body. Based on previous release dates, the product is expected to launch in September this year.

The news comes from a Bloomberg report which claims that the next generation Apple Watch SE plans abandon the metal case and use a plastic one instead.

If true, this will be Apple's firstWatch SE  with a plastic frame. The move is reportedly aimed at cutting costs in hopes of bringing the retail price down to around $200. However, using a new material can have other benefits, such as simplifying production. Compared to plastic, metal surfaces are more difficult to paint, and with plastic material it is easy to provide a variety of color options. Also, the reduced price (if true) can make the product more accessible to a wider range of users.

This can be especially useful for students who are not allowed to bring their phones to school. Here, watches can become an alternative to more expensive smartphones to help parents stay connected.
