The United States has imposed restrictions on a number of Russian businessmen and entrepreneurs. Among the people included in the list of sanctions is Alina Kabaeva, a former Russian gymnast who is called the mistress of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Kabaeva is also the chairman of the board of directors of the National Media Group (a holding company that owns controlling stakes in state-owned media).

Restricted also included:

  • former head of PhosAgro Andrey Guryev and his son,
  • Chairman of the Board of Directors of Evrokhim OJSC Andrey Melnichenko,
  • billionaire businessman Alexander Ponomarenko,
  • owner of the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works Viktor Rashnikov,
  • deputy general director of Innopraktika Natalia Popova,
  • entrepreneur Dmitry Pupmyansky.
