From January 1 to January 15 of the new year, at least 104 civilians were killed as a result of Russian aggression against Ukraine. Data testify to this office of the UN High Commissioner.
In the office of the High Commissioner The UN Human Rights Organization has calculated that at least 284 civilians have been injured since the beginning of the year. The international organization noted that the real number of victims could be much higher.
The confirmed number of civilian deaths in Ukraine since Russian military invasion exceeded 7 thousand civilians, more than 11 thousand people were injured.
The UN also noted that the real number of deaths is much higher, since information was received from some places where intense hostilities continue, etc. is delayed, and many messages still need to be confirmed.
This applies, for example, to the settlements of Mariupol (Donetsk region), Izyum (Kharkiv region), Lisichansk, Popasnaya and Severodonetsk (Luhansk region ), where numerous civilian deaths or injuries were reported.
The UN notes that the majority of recorded civilian casualties were caused by the use of explosive weapons with a large area of effect, including shelling by heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems, as well as rocket and air strikes.
