The UN court ordered Israel to open additional routes for delivering aid to the Gaza Strip

The International Court of Justice passed a legally binding ruling requiring Israel to open additional crossings into the Gaza Strip so starving Palestinians can receive more humanitarian aid.

The Hague court ruling orders Israel to take "all necessary and effective measures" to ensure the immediate delivery of “direly needed basic services and humanitarian aid,” including food, water, fuel and medicine, Voice of America reports.

The court also ordered Israel to take immediate action, < em>“that its military does not commit acts that constitute a violation of any of the rights of Palestinians in Gaza as a group protected under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, including by obstructing in any way the delivery of urgently needed humanitarian assistance.” .

The court ordered Israel to report within a month on how it is complying with these orders.

Israel has not yet commented on the court ruling, but it has categorically denied committing genocide during the nearly six-month trial war against Hamas militants and called on the UN court not to issue new orders.
