The official trailer of the new film by the director and military officer Oleh Sentsov has been posted online. The documentary is called “Real”.

With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Oleg Sentsov joined the Ukrainian army and fought on the southeastern front. In the summer of 2023, he accidentally filmed one of the battles when his armored personnel carrier was hit by the enemy, Styler says.

Oleg found himself in the nearest trench and, with the help of radio communication, tried to organize the evacuation of part of his unit, which was under fire and almost without ammunition, to a position codenamed “Real”.

This accidentally filmed battle turned into a full-length film, which, according to Sentsov, shows “life in war and its true face without embellishments and fakes.” The world premiere of the film “Real” will take place at the 58th International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, which will begin on June 28.

Art director of the film festival, Karel Oh, noted that Sentsov's new film is a “uniquely fascinating experience that offers a hyper-documentary look at the reality of war through the eyes of one of its direct participants”.< /p>

Sentsov's previous film, “Rhinoceros”, was released in 2021. This is a crime drama about a young guy who falls into the world of crime in the 90s. In search of easy money, he becomes the henchman of a bandit and quickly gains the reputation of a ruthless killer.

“Rhino” is not only a crime thriller, but also a deep psychological drama about self-discovery and the search for the meaning of life.
