The Japanese company Prodrone is preparing to deliver specialized mine detection drones to Ukraine. This is reported by Eurasia Times. According to media reports, the company plans to begin commercial delivery of drones in 2025 in cooperation with Tokyo consulting firm Padeco.

The drones will have the ability to fly at a height of 50 cm above the ground and will be equipped with an artificial intelligence system to search for mines and create interactive maps of their location. Mine detection technologies will be developed in cooperation with Ukrainian partners.

Prodrone already has experience working in Ukraine – in  in May of this year, the company conducted inspections of the energy infrastructure, including UKRENERGO facilities, on the instructions of the World Bank.

Ukraine may be offered a drone model Scan, designed for filming and monitoring. The drone weighs 20 kg including the LiDAR system and batteries, has compact dimensions when folded and is able to operate at temperatures from -10°C to 40 °C for 30 minutes.

According to the Ukrainian government, approximately 23% of the country's territory is potentially contaminated by mines and other explosive objects, which threatens the lives of about six million people. More than 900 civilian casualties have already been recorded as a result of mine-related incidents.
