The US State Department said that NATO would fight for Lithuania, in the event of an attack RF. This was announced at a briefing on Tuesday, June 21, by US State Department spokesman Ned Price.
“We support our NATO allies, we support Lithuania. Our Commitment to NATO Article 5 – the postulate that an attack on one would mean an attack on all, – indestructible”, – said a State Department spokesman.
This provoked a sharp reaction in the Kremlin. The Russian leader's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, called Lithuania's restrictions “unprecedented and illegal” impudent trick of Vilnius” by any means.
