The startup Anduril presented cheap missiles with a range of almost 1000 km

Barracuda missiles from Anduril offer the Pentagon cheap and flexible combat solutions.

The American company Anduril presented a new family of autonomous cruise missiles “Barracuda”, which aims to provide the Pentagon with cheap and effective aerial vehicles for quick adaptation to changing combat conditions.

Anduril Industries, known for its innovative solutions in the field of military technology, has created three models of “Barracuda” missiles, which differ in size, range and payload. These missiles can provide aviation with the ability to flexibly respond to new challenges while remaining relatively cheap to manufacture. Thanks to their modular technology, they can be quickly adapted to different types of combat operations, making them a valuable asset in modern military conflicts.

The company's founder, Palmer Lucky, who became famous for creating VR-glasses Oculus, focused Anduril's activities on the development of drones and other autonomous systems for the military. In addition to “Barracuda”, the company has also created other well-known devices, including the Anvil interceptor drone, the Dive-LD underwater vehicle and the Ghost stealth aircraft, which perform various combat and reconnaissance tasks.

Technical characteristics of the “Barracuda” impress with their efficiency. The maximum flight range reaches more than 500 nautical miles (926 km), and the payload capacity reaches 45 kg. The missiles are able to withstand maneuvering overloads of up to 5 g, and the autonomous flight time can exceed 120 minutes, making them ideal for long reconnaissance missions. Version “Barracuda-500” designed for cluster launch from transport aircraft such as the “Boeing C-17”, while smaller models of the “Barracuda-250” suitable for F-35 type fighters.

The production process of rockets of this family is much simpler and cheaper compared to other modern models. Thanks to the optimization of technologies, the production of “Barracuda” requires 50% less time, 95% less equipment and 50% less components. This reduces the average cost of production by 30%, which is a significant advantage for military systems, where high costs often dominate.

In addition to missiles, Anduril also develops other important technologies. In the spring, the company introduced the Pulsar system, which is a modular multifunctional electronic warfare (EW) system. Pulsar can be deployed both on ground vehicles and on aircraft, where it is able to detect and neutralize enemy electronics, including small and medium-sized unmanned aerial vehicles.

Development of new systems “Barracuda” and Pulsar demonstrate Anduril's commitment to implementing cutting-edge solutions that can significantly improve the effectiveness of military operations, reduce costs, and at the same time ensure rapid adaptation to modern threats on the battlefield.
